Green is a Civil War and Reconstruction scholar whose recent scholarship has focused on how African-Americans remembered and commemorated the Civil War and on the often-unacknowledged history and legacy of slavery on university campuses. That work at the University of Alabama.
Her appointment fulfills the recommendation by the 蜜桃社区 College Commission on Race and Slavery to add four faculty members, housed in whole or in part in the Africana Studies Department, including a public historian.
